#BringItOn - The Commonwealth games

The commonwealth games is sort of like the Olympic games, just for the commonwealth countries. It is, like the Olympics, arranged in different countries every four years. This year was Glasgows time to shine, and I think they did it great!

It all started with, obvious , the opening ceremony. I didnt get to watch it all, because the big screen I was going to watch it at wasnt all that big and the view was terrible. But I got to see the fireworks from my apartment, which was great!

I had bought tickets to two of the events, and I got to see four. The first one I went to was badminton. 10 different countries played both single, double and mix matches. England won all their matches. The Falkland Islands lost all theirs. Not really that surprising considering they played against Canada, which have, you know, a few inhabitants more. I do not think they were too happy with their 21-0 lose anyways.
Emirates Arena, where the badminton were held, were also holding track cycling. Our tickets said entrance 2, so we went to the first entrance we found. It turned out it was the wrong entrance, but I got to see Scotland win a match in tandem cycling (I bet you didnt knew that was a sport, right?)

Rugby7, Ibrox
The most awesome event I got to go, however, was Rugby Sevens. I do not remember who recommended me to go to that, but for whoever it was - Thank you! I didnt really knew what rugby7s was before I went there, but it is an awesome sport to watch. The teams are only 7 players, and they play for 7 minutes, so the game was fast and fun. We got to see several teams play, including South Africa who won the tournament. Most fun was it to watch Scotland win, because the atmosphere at Ibox Stadium was amazing!

The last event I got to see was marathon, because it was for free. One of the girls ran barefoot. On asphalt for a whole marathon. I am impressed! After watching the marathon for a bit we went to Glasgow green where they held a festival. Lots of people, big screen to watch the matches and tons of tasty food. The Merchant City also held a festival. And to top the whole event - Glasgow had some of the nicest weather you could imaging!

The commonwealth games are still on in Glasgow. I am back in Trondheim to work at the orientation week at NTNU now. But the commonwealth games was one week of lots of fun!I also had time to go by the "Whiskey-church". A former church which is now a whiskey bar! But I just ordered the special of the month, so I had no clue what I was drinking!
